The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Burning the skins! 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
