The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Burning the skins! 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
