NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning unto humankind 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 about the sinners. 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
