Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
