The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
