The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
