The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
