The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 "When we have become decayed bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
