The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
