The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
