The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 By the angels hastening, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
