The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
