He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you attend; 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and date palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
