He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
