The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a fitting requital, 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
