The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
