The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
