The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
