The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
