The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
