The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
