The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
