The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
