The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
