The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and so am I: 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
