Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
