The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 and the moon as it reflects the sun! 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 and by the soul and by Him Who perfectly proportioned it, 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And He fears not its consequence. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
