The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
