And when you did go forth early in the morning from your family to lodge the believers in encampments for war and Allah is Hearing, Knowing. 121 when two groups from among you were about to lose heart, although God was near unto them and it is in God that the believers must place their trust: 122 and God most surely helped you at Badr, when you were utterly abject. So fear God, and haply you Will be thankful. 123 Remember when you said to the faithful: "Is it not sufficient that your Lord should send for your help three thousand angels from the heavens? 124 Yea! if you remain patient and are on your guard, and they come upon you in a headlong manner, your Lord will assist you with five thousand of the havoc-making angels. 125 And Allah made it not except as [a sign of] good tidings for you and to reassure your hearts thereby. And victory is not except from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise - 126 That He might cut down a section of the disbelievers or suppress them so that they turn back disappointed. 127 You have no concern in the affair whether He turns to them (mercifully) or chastises them, for surely they are unjust. 128 Allah's is whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. He forgiveth whomsoever He listeth, and tormenteth whomsoever He listeth. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 129
