The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
