Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
