When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
