'Lord, open my breast,' said Moses, 25 and make my task easy for me, 26 And loose a knot from my tongue, 27 “In order that they may understand my speech.” 28 and appoint for me a helper from among my family, 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 Confirm my strength with him 31 and let him share my task, 32 that we may abundantly extol Your glory; 33 And remember you a great deal. 34 Surely Thou seest into us.' 35 Allah said: "You are granted your request, O Musa (Moses)! 36 We have bestowed Our favour on you before this 37 “When We inspired in your mother’s heart whatever was to be inspired.” 38 'Put the baby into a chest and then throw him in the river. The river will throw him up on the shore, and then an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his will take him.' And I spread My love over you in order that you might be reared in My sight. 39 [And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses. 40 I have chosen you for Myself. 41 "Go you and your brother with My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and do not, you both, slacken and become weak in My Remembrance. 42 Go, both of you, unto Pharaoh. Lo! he hath transgressed (the bounds). 43 But speak unto him in a mild manner, so that he might bethink himself or [at least] be filled with apprehension. 44 They said: "Our Lord! Verily! We fear lest he should hasten to punish us or lest he should transgress (all bounds against us)." 45 [Allah] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see. 46 So go to him, and say: verily we are two apostles of thy Lord, so let go with us the Children of Isra'il, and torment them not; surely we have come unto thee with a sign from thy Lord: and peace be upon him who followeth the guidance. 47 ‘It has indeed been revealed to us that the punishment is upon the one who denies and turns away.’” 48 [But when God's message was conveyed unto Pharaoh,] he said: "Who, now, is this Sustainer of you two, O Moses?" 49 'Our Lord' he replied, 'is He Who gave everything its creation and then guided it' 50 He said: What then is the state of the generations of old? 51 Musa said: the knowledge thereof is with my Lord in the Book; my Lord erreth not, nor He forgetteth. 52 Who hath appointed the earth as a bed and hath threaded roads for you therein and hath sent down water from the sky and thereby We have brought forth divers kinds of vegetation, 53 so eat and graze your cattle. In this there are signs for men of understanding. 54
