The Poets (Alshu'araa')
227 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah) before The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Ta'. Sin. Mim. 1 THESE ARE MESSAGES of the divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth! 2 Perhaps you will kill yourself with grief because they do not believe. 3 But if We had so willed, We could have sent down to them a sign from the heavens so that their heads would be bowed down before it in utter humility. 4 Whenever a new message comes to them from the Beneficent God, they turn away from it. 5 Indeed they have denied, so now soon coming upon them are the tidings of what they used to scoff at. 6 Have they, then, never considered the earth - how much of every noble kind [of life] We have caused to grow thereon? 7 Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 8 Your Lord is surely mighty and merciful. 9
