The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
