▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the Moon 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to mortal man 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
