He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
