The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
