The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
