Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

May the hands of Abu Lahab perish, may he be ruined. 1 His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained. 2 He shall soon burn in fire that flames, 3 and his wife, the carrier of the firewood, 4 with a rope of twisted fibre round her neck. 5

True are the words of God the Almighty.
