Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
