The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
