The tribe of Thamud also rejected the messengers. 141 Their brother Salih asked them, "Why do you not fear God? 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 so fear you God, and obey you me.' 144 I do not ask any recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 145 Do you believe that you will be left here to live securely in the present state 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 and fields, and [these] palm-trees with slender spathes? 148 And dwellings hewed out of mountains ingeniously? 149 So fear you God, and obey you me; 150 Do not follow those who are extravagant, 151 those who spread corruption in the land instead of putting things right." 152 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched! 153 You are naught but a mortal like ourselves; so bring a sign if you are one of the truthful. 154 (Saleh) said: "Here is a she-camel. She has a right of drinking water, and you have a right of drinking it on appointed turns. 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 But they hamstrung her, and then were penitent. 157 The punishment therefore seized them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 158 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 159

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
