۞ When the son of Mary was mentioned as an example, you people cried out in protest, saying, 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 but he was only a servant We favoured and made an example for the Children of Israel: 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 He is certainly the sign of the Hour (of change). So have no doubt about it, and listen to me. This is the straight path. 61 And let not the Satan hinder you; verily he is unto you an enemy manifest. 62 And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. 63 For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship Him: that is a straight path." 64 The various factions among them differed -- woe then to those who did wrong: they will suffer the punishment of a painful Day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. 67
