The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 on a fateful Day. 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun, heights above the heights. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, "Indeed they have gone astray." 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
