The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a Great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A Register inscribed. 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
