And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge). 16 [And so,] whenever the two demands [of his nature] come face to face, contending from the right and from the left, 17 He uttereth no word but there is with him an observer ready. 18 The palsy of death will surely come. This is what you wished to avert. 19 And the trumpet is blown. This is the threatened Day. 20 And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness. 21 [and will be told:] "Indeed, unmindful hast thou been of this [Day of Judgment]; but now We have lifted from thee thy veil, and sharp is thy sight today!" 22 His companion will say: "Here is (the record) I have ready with me." 23 "Cast into Hell every ungrateful, rebellious one, 24 who hinders good, exceeds the limits, is immersed in doubts, 25 Who had set up another god with God. Cast him into severe torment." 26 ۞ His satanic companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not mislead him, but he himself went astray". 27 He will say, “Do not dispute before Me – I had already warned you of the punishment.” 28 The judgment passed by Me shall not be altered; but never do I do the least wrong unto My creatures!" 29
