Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
