The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
