The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
