Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
