The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the mount. 1 and by the Book in lines 2 In parchment spread open 3 By the House Frequented. 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
